Game Recap

Garey High School Varsity Baseball team (4-2, league, 5-9 overall) earned a crucial victory in Miramonte League play against visiting Ganesha Giants on a special Wednesday night April 12, 2017 with a score of 3-1. The event was special due to the fact it was the inaugural opening ceremonies dedication of the brand new baseball complex (Viking Baseball Complex”) on behalf of the Pomona Unified School District, it’s board members, citizens of Pomona, and the Mayor of Pomona. The funds for the baseball and softball complex were generated by the passage of school related bond tax for athletic complexes within PUSD. The Mayor of Pomona and Garey HS Principal (Mr. Wilkins) threw out the first pitch. The ceremony was followed by a night game between Garey and Ganesha in Miramonte League play. The victory put the Vikings in sole position of second place, and dropped the Giants(3-3) to third place in Miramonte League standings. Junior pitcher Michael Santana earned the victory with 10th grader Robert Lopez picking up the save. Senior Ricky Santana and Daniel Gonzalez lead the way for the Viking offensive.
